Create an itinerary including Fram Museum
Learn more about the polar explorations undertaken by the Norwegian explorers Fridtjof Nansen, Otto Sverdrup, and Roald Amundsen at Fram Museum. Climb aboard the Fram, the original ship used by Nansen on his voyage, and walk in the cabins of the crew members and the main deck to get a feel for what life as an explorer was like during this period. Also, view the ship used in Amundsen's journey through the Northwest Passage, the Gjoa. You'll have the chance to see the scientific equipment and actual artifacts that were used for the explorers' research. Look up at the museum's ceiling during one of their light shows for projections of the ethereal Northern Lights. • Amazing collection of memorabilia, photos and artifacts in addition to the boats. It would be easy to spend hours pouring over everything. Two hours will probably let you enjoy most of the treasures.

  • A good display and description of the antarctic expeditions conducted by the ship Fram. Very focused museum,, and provided you have a deep interest in the subject. With that it's an amazing display...

  • After a couple of hours, I feel amazed from the amount of information you can get from this museum. The history behind all modern explorations to the North and south poles are included in two buildings with the focus to the Norwegian missions, which were ,no doubt, the most important and successful. It is not only the ships inside, but the history you learn on your way around the exhibitions. Highly recommended.
  • Really cool experience and beautifully laid out museum. Even if you don’t think you’d be overly interested in Antarctic expeditions, the narrative of the museum sweeps you up in it - culminating in an opportunity to climb aboard the ship. Also don’t miss the experience at the front of the second level, not sure what’s going on behind those doors but it’s fun for sure
