Xcacel Beach, Cancun

#3 of 16 in Beaches in Cancun
Beach · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
Before Riviera Maya became a hot spot for tourism, its beaches looked like Xcacel Beach. This stretch of coast remains unspoiled, undeveloped, and a home to marine life. Each summer, dozens of sea turtles travel to this slice of paradise to lay their eggs in the soft sand, so if you visit in the spring and summer months, give raised mounds of sand a wide berth. A local sanctuary works to protect the eggs and requests donations from visitors to fund the program. Take your snorkeling gear to explore the small coral reef on the north end of the beach, if the sea is calm.
