Ha Kome Cave Houses, Teyateyaneng

Admire Ha Kome Cave Houses, a cave settlement built in the mid-19th century as a sanctuary from cannibals, and still inhabited by the descendants of its original dwellers. Upon arrival, a guide walks you through the carved-out caves nestled under an overhanging rock. Nearby, find restroom facilities, souvenir shops, and the information center--even though you might get all the details you need from the locals, who happily open their doors to visitors and answer all questions. The settlement can be a bit difficult to find due to poor signage along the way. Arrange to visit Ha Kome Cave Houses and other attractions in Teyateyaneng using our Teyateyaneng online trip planner.

  • Had a really nice visit to Ha Kome Caves, it’s with a visit..
  • Nothing special. Don't go just to see the village because there are only 5 houses. Beautiful landscape and mountains and good place for a walk, but the village is not very interesting.
