Saint Patrick's Cathedral
The resting place of writer Jonathan Swift, Saint Patrick's Cathedral represents the largest church in Ireland. Over a thousand years old, this imposing Gothic structure features a 43 m (140 ft) tall spire, one of the city's major architectural landmarks. Built in honor of Ireland's patron saint, the building stands next to an old well allegedly used by Saint Patrick to baptize converts to Christianity. Pay the small fee to sightsee inside the historical cathedral, which contains fine examples of medieval stained glass and a 4,000-pipe organ, one of Ireland's largest. Check online for a downloadable audio guide and a schedule of daily services, guided tours, and special events. Put Saint Patrick's Cathedral on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Dublin online tour planner.

This cathedral has so much history! The self guided tour took about 2 hours just for the main stops. You could definitely spend a whole day just reading all the plaques on the wall!

Beautiful church with a lot of history. You do have to pay 8 euros for entrance. There are discounts for over 60. With the entrance fee you getaway audio guide. There is a lot to see see and you can spend several hours walking around this beautiful church. There is also a nice park adjacent to the Cathedral. It is well worth making a trip.

We visited as part of our walking trip around Dublin. The cathedral stays open fairly late vs others we tried to visit which closed by 4pm. The staff at the ticket counter and inside were very helpful. It's self guided but you can get an audio guide which takes you through various parts of the cathedral. The cathedral is impressive , the arches , the pulpit , stained glass were all very impressive
