Pay a visit to Gandhi Smriti, the house where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last months of his life, before being assassinated here in 1948. Built in 1928 by a member of the esteemed Birla family, who often welcomed Gandhi into his home, the building was sold to the Indian government in 1971. Today it stands as a memorial and museum dedicated to the life of Gandhi and his last moments on Earth. Take a tour of the house and grounds to admire numerous items from his life, or view the "Martyr's Column," a monument marking the exact spot in the garden where he was standing when he was shot. Peaceful | Part of History | Enriching. Gandhi Smriti is one of the few hidden gems in Delhi. Has great artifacts based on Gandhi's life and his messages. I went there quite a few times. Even if you are not aware of the Gandhi's life and his part in making us independent, then also this place is a must visit. Among the constant chaos and noise in Delhi, this place will bring peace and enrichment in you.

Museum set up to honour Mahatma Gandhi at his final residence. His final walk to his assassination has been created on a footpath. His living quarters have been restored to as is, at the time of his death. The Museum also contains a number of information boards which document his life and major events. Entry cost is low and not many crowds. Open most days except religious holidays. Located on Tees January Marg, it is a museum dedicated to Gandhi ji who spent the last 144 days of his life here till his assassination on 30th January, 1948. The entire complex is well maintained.
