One of the most iconic sites on the planet, Taj Mahal stands as an enduring and remarkable example of Islamic architecture in the country--it's also a World Heritage Site. Constructed between 1632 and 1653 by Emperor Shah Jahan, the mausoleum pays tribute to his beloved wife. Visit the expansive complex on the banks of the river and marvel at the 73 m (240 ft) tall structure and its surrounding minarets, covered in distinctive white marble. Explore the grounds and take in the view of the world-renowned structure, complete with a bulbous dome, from multiple angles. Note the Islamic calligraphy, colorful lattice works, raised motifs, and tiles adorning the exterior of the building. Afterwards, step under the main dome to see a vaulted ceiling above the intricately carved tombs of the Shah and his wife. The Taj Mahal is one of the most recognizable iconic scenes in the world. When we visited we were so lucky to be staying overnight in Agra so that we got to see the wonderful look of the white marble.... more »
Taj has a everlasting mesmerizing beauty which no other monument has. It was built by Shah Jahan for his eternal love Mumtaz, it's a wonder in marble to be seen again and again more »
Really a beautiful and mesmerizing place to spend your time with your loved ones. Every inch tells you one beautiful, technical n marvellous story. You should recruit a guide or do a proper research then enter to feel the efforts and brain used. Whole day is not just enough to enjoy this fully. Please don't forget to take pics from different angles. Recruit a photographer if you can afford to seize the beautiful memories forever..but do proper negotiations. You must visit once in your life time.
Absolutely stunning! As it came into view for the first time through the entrance, my breath was taken away and I couldn’t even bother to look through my phone screen for a photo. Quick tip for a good photo - Try and line up the middle sections of the fountain with the middle tip! I noticed just after moving on from the main spot that though my photos looked good, this little check would have provided perfect symmetry. Other nice thing to see is the red Cornelia Inlaid stones translucency in the main chamber. Definitely worth coming early for sunrise or late for sunset.
