Study the ruins of Temple of Poseidon, where the ancient Greeks brought sacrifices to the powerful god of the sea, Neptune. The Doric columns still stand 60 m (200 ft) above the ocean, even in their ruined state. The artifacts harvested from the site, including the Kournos of Sounion, are on display at the Athens National Archeological Museum. Take a guided tour from the entrance or walk the grounds on your own along the trail that leads to the temple. The attraction is visible from all around the peninsula, but the view from the ruins is by far the highlight. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. Seaside view is amazing, especially with the vast ocean. Definitely, recommend watching the sunset there before catching the last bus to head back to Athens. Explore the entire park as there is a great aerial view of a nearby beach and port. Free entry for students who display a valid EU student ID card, includes foreign students studying in EU. Bus from Athens to Sounio (€7) and from Sounio to Athens (€5.50). Payment is done while in the bus as it drives along the coast with an amazing view. The bus ride duration varies (depending on traffic) from 1h20min to 2h10min.

Great views! No need to spend a lot of time if you don't have it, but the drive from Athens is nice, & gives a different perspective of the Athens area. The ruins are interesting.
