House of 1000 Clocks Reviews
The name of the store says it all! Besides all the clocks they had a nice variety of tourist gifts to buy. The exterior is very cute and inside is very busy with many clock designs to look at. It..... more »
My daughters and I drove from Stuttgart to shop for Cuckoo clocks and to see the town, of course. This was our first stop. So many amazing clocks here. Almost overwhelming to have all the choices. So.... more »
If in the area, it is a must see shop. However, be aware it is very commercial and only sells factory stuff. They have a very wide variety of clocks of all kinds, not just the traditional clocks, as well as many of the common souvenirs all in one place. There's a second location South of this one in downtown Triberg that's also worth seeing and has some different items. If just looking for the clocks, though, both locations have the same, though this location does have easier parking and didn't seem as busy. Be aware that the clocks are all factory clocks. It's similar to what you'd find in any of the other souvenir ships around Germany - in some cases the exact same. They just have a large variety of them all in one place, plus some other cool modern clocks you probably won't see in other places. If looking to something quick and off the shell, this would be a good place. If looking for something custom or want one not made in a factory, I'd recommend heading into downtown Triberg and looking for one of the custom shops. There are a couple of them that are not hard to find and the owners do great work at a reasonable price. Only bad part of our visit to this location was that we had one sales person that kept following us around, interrupting our conversations, and telling us things we said we already knew, even after telling her we were not buying a clock that day - very pushy. I think that was a one-off since we came back the next day to pick up a few specific things and it was better - actually fun and easy to talk to people and a few items turned into several.
This place is fabulous! The cuckoo clocks are beyond amazing! All price ranges and each one is unique. They even had a hand carved grandfather clock! This is also a good place for souvenirs. They have more than just clocks; stuffed animals, steins, magnets, shot glasses, wine, flavored liqueurs, cutting boards, candles, etc. I can't even list everything they have there.
