Jewish Museum Berlin, Berlin

#6 of 189 in Museums in Berlin
History Museum · Specialty Museum
Jewish Museum Berlin is one of Europe's largest venues dedicated to Jewish history. A sobering exhibit dedicated to the reign of the Third Reich presents Germany through the eyes of the Jewish minority. Important events in Jewish history are portrayed via fine art, manuscripts, photographs, and family memorabilia. Two millennia of German-Jewish history are on display in the permanent exhibit space, as well as in several changing presentation areas. All of this is spread over two buildings, one of which is designed by architect Daniel Libeskind. The staff can accompany you through the exhibits. Or you can use an audio guide and explore this comprehensive history museum at your own pace. • Very well-planned exhibition and interiors, I read through each of the stories and I agree from these fragments I feel more to the victims although it is no doubt not even closer to the pains they had suffered. The garden is bright and quiet while there are still police stations around the museum itself which reminds me the conflicts are still alive and just around the corner.
  • A place filled with emotion. Some exhibitions fill the smaller hallways and rooms of the building. A pretty garden located right next to it and a nice cafe inside. Though, the real attractions are the axis and towers. Empty, quiet yet loud, filled with shadows...truly worth a visit.
