Located near the northern end of the Pont de l'Alma, on the Place de l'Alma, Flamme de la Liberte is a full-sized, gold-leaf-covered replica of the new flame at the upper end of the torch carried in the hand of the Statue of Liberty in New York City since 1986. The monument is a sculpture of a flame, executed in gilded copper and supported by a pedestal of gray-and-black marble. Here, you can view the embodiment of friendly French and American relations.

The flame became also an unofficial memorial for Diana, Princess of Wales, after her death in the tunnel beneath the Pont de l'Alma. The flame became an attraction for tourists and followers of Diana, and they fly-posted the base with commemorative material. Anthropologist Guy Lesoeurs is quoted saying, "Most people who come here think this was built for her." Plan a Paris trip in moments using our itinerary builder.

  • This is the place where princesses Diana was gravely injured in a car accident. To commemorate her a Americans presented a replica of torch of statue of liberty the same is present over here. This is right beside to Seine River and also you can have a beautiful view of Eifel tower near to this place, if you have additional time then this is one of the places to visit.
  • A nice memorial spot. Not too impressive to be honest. And not a place you'll go special for, but rather cross when you're passing by.
