Create an itinerary including 1933 Old Millfun
A raw concrete modernist structure, 1933 Old Millfun once operated as Shanghai’s cattle slaughterhouse, now serving as an industrial park space. Surrounded by roads and water, this five-story art deco building with a brutalist feel was designed by a British architect in 1933. Feel a chill run down your spine as you examine the building's huge gutters and bridges, which were used to transport the unfortunate animals across large halls and maze-like spiral galleries. Transformed into an exhibition space, the building now hosts fashion shows, concerts, and press conferences, and is also used as a conference hall. • The largest slaughterhouse in Shanghai back in the 1930s. Today it is a shopping complex with boutiques, restaurants, dance studios, etc. If it is completely occupied, it would be a place to chill...

  • The old slaughter house has been beautifully revitalised to a venue of art and culture. The internal structure has been well preserved. Good place for taking photos.

  • No Fee, but took us i while to Find the proper directions, if you take the Metro Line 10 get of at Hailun Road, its a long walk but you could bike. Better to just take a Didi/Cab. They have cafes around and a modeling studio.
  • 1933 is a wonderful art space that doesn't seem to get too many tourists. This is partly because it is a little tricky to get to! Worth visiting for it's architecture, art and the myriad photo opportunities you'll find yourself presented with. It's free entry too, which is always a plus!
