Cerro Frias Reviews
This is great countryside to ride a horse. Even though only a slow walk throughout, views are spectacular. My problem with this group is that no helmet provided, nor were chaps - on 3 previous rides..... more »
We had the most wonderful experience riding horses with Flor, a lovely young lady, through the hills outside of El Calafate. I was a little nervous with very little riding experience but the horses... more »
Took a hiking tour on this expansive, private ranch. The hike was more challenging than anticipated (lots of uphill) but it was a leisure walk in great weather. Our guide, Ezekiel, was pleasant and knowledgeable. Upon our return, we were met with a grand, multi course lunch. Pumpkin soup and bread then the lamb was the best I have ever had and vegetarians had an equally succulent meal as they prepared veggie empanadas and grilled vegetables and they were perfect. They finished with a dulce de leche dessert. Met a nice mix of people and Cerro Frias was a highlight of the trip.
Terrible disregard for safety. During my horse riding experience the staff did not tell the clients anything about riding a horse even though most of us were first time riders. I asked for a helmet 3 times yet they still did not get me one. There response was that ‘it wasn’t very windy’ whatever that means. They also spoke perfect English so there was no language barrier. Halfway through I asked about my saddle getting looked at as it was loose. The staff just continued. The 3 leaders we had were all on a working holiday but forgot the work part. They may be okay risking their own safety but have no right to risk mine. Nothing went wrong but it’s likely to in the future if this attitude continues. Go with a different supplier for horse riding in Calafate for your own safety.
