Basilica de Nuestra Senora Del Pilar, Buenos Aires

4.6
Basilica de Nuestra Senora Del Pilar is considered a national treasure for its six Baroque altars, including one coated with Peruvian engraved silver. Built in 1732 by Franciscans, the church features a whitewashed classical exterior with a simple bell tower, which stands in contrast to the gleaming gold and silver nuances of the richly decorated interior. The gallery windows provide views of the cemetery with many statues of angels, while the museum, which occupies the quarters of a former cloister, boasts a collection of manuscripts, liturgical objects, paintings, sculptures, and photographs. During the weekends, a handcraft fair occupies the park and the plaza surrounding the church. • A little haven of peace and quiet. Some beautiful altars inside and worth paying the $35p to visit the churches museum which houses various religious documents and artifacts. It also gives you a raised view of the cemetery next door.
  • So much beauty and stillness to enjoy a moment with God...ver y recomendable
