Space Needle, Seattle

4.2
Enjoy panoramic views of Seattle and the surrounding water from 184 m (605 ft) in the air at Space Needle. A symbol of the city since it was built for the World’s Fair in 1962, the tower features a 360º observation deck. Ride the elevator to the top for unobstructed views of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, Elliott Bay, and the surrounding islands, before stopping for a meal at the rotating SkyCity restaurant. Take a jacket with you when visiting the tower, as the observation deck is known for windy conditions. Plan your visit to Space Needle and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Seattle road trip tool .

  • Unfortunately the lower deck was closed for a private event on the afternoon we went but they offered a discount. The upper deck was still great. Inside and outside 360 viewing platforms. Coffee with ...  more »
  • Many towns have observatories; but few have the views Seattle has. The Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains on one side, the Cascades on the other, Mt Rainier South, Mt Baker North, downtown seattle ...  more »

  • Going to the Space Needle is quite the experience. It's also almost certainly a must when visiting Seattle. The views from below and once you're at the top are both spectacular. Especially when you're up top. The city looks beautiful from the observation decks during the day, but it truly comes alive at night. There is usually a wait to go up and I think it's well worth it if you're not afraid of heights.
  • The top is now glass with unobstructed views. Love this change. Also went to the lower top level with the glass floor. A bit scary at first but cool. The virtual reality bungee jump was free but digital and not real. Our 8 year old thought it was fantastic.
