At Aquarium of the Bay, more than 20,000 animals are cared for, including approximately 50 sharks of different species. Aquatic animals from San Francisco Bay and its neighboring waters are kept in a range of different satellite tanks and one main tank that features 91 m (300 ft) of underwater tunnels. You'll have an opportunity to touch bat rays, skates, leopard sharks, sea stars, and sea cucumbers. The aquarium offers behind-the-scenes tours as well, where you'll witness how animals are cared for, or feed sharks and other fish. Aquarium of the Bay Reviews
My husband and I are both huge into aquarium life. We’ve been to lots of different aquariums. This one is small and overpriced. But some of the exhibits are very nice and well put together. more »
We wondered around Pier 39 on Thanksgiving day...the Aquarium was definitely one of the better ones I’ve been to. Lots of interesting sea life to look at. Would definitely recommend more »
Loved this place, looking at different types and sizes of fish. Some were colorful, others with stripes and also sharks, jellyfish, sting ray, turtles. There were also otters, lizards, snakes and frogs. The area for the fish was like wall to wall glass and ceiling like big aquarium. You could see fish, sharks and stingrays, etc swimming all around and overhead. It was awesome! They have a gift shop too. Outside you can see the harbor and lots of boats, awesome views all around.
Was $5 off each admission after 5 pm and stays open until 8. We went around 5:45 and had plenty of time to see and interact with everything. The staff was amazing, let us keep our distance, but were always around the corner providing facts about what we were seeing which really added to the overall experience. Would recommend if visiting the pier.
