Liberty Bell Center, Philadelphia
The former site of Washington's slave quarters sits near the entrance of Liberty Bell Center. Upon entering the center, you'll find a series of exhibits before reaching the Liberty Bell. The bell is displayed out of reach (but in plain sight) and still hangs on what is thought to be the original yolk made of American elm. The bell's recognizable crack is clearly visible--observers have referred to it as a metaphor for the fragility of democracy. Be aware that all visitors are required to go through a security screening at the entrance. Liberty Bell Center Reviews

Line was rather long but went quickly. Interesting facts throughout hall that leads you to the bell. Difficult to get a picture with so many people. more »
Great experience for those who love history. While this is literally a building housing only the bell, it's worth reading up on it and making this visit if you find yourself by way of Philadelphia. The line stranded about half way down the block, however it moved very quick. There is a small security check point prior to entry, as in all federal buildings. There is no admission fee, and most surprisingly, no sale of mementos or souvenirs. It's conveniently located in Independence Park, and directly across the street from Independence Hall.
How can you give anything less than 5 stars to the most important bell in the United States? I have visited the Liberty Bell 10 times prior and it's always nice. It's free! Don't get deterred by the line. It moves very quickly. Don't skip the donation box either. $1 is fine! Always offer to take family photos! Pay it forward.
