Throgs Neck Bridge, New York City
The Throgs Neck Bridge is a suspension bridge opened on January 11, 1961, which carries Interstate 295 over the East River where it meets the Long Island Sound. The bridge connects the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx with the Bay Terrace section of Queens. It is the newest bridge across the East River and was built to relieve traffic on the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge 2 miles to the west, which opened in 1939. The Throgs Neck Bridge is the easternmost crossing off of Long Island. Due to this and its proximity to both the Cross Bronx Expressway and the New England Thruway, it is the closest route from Long Island to New Jersey via the George Washington Bridge; upstate New York; Connecticut; and other points north and east.Discover how to plan a New York City trip in just a few steps with Inspirock's itinerary builder.
The Throgs Neck Bridge is owned by the City of New York and operated by the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority, an affiliate agency of the MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority).

I had some business to attend to in Jersey on a morning in August. It was 99 degrees that day . Going across the bridge at 9am in traffic gave me an opportunity to take in the views of the Long Island... more »
Well lite at night, and an amazing view, a feat that New York has taken and ran with. This like all of New York’s bridges are a true breath taker. I love to come to New York and feel like a kid from all the breath taking high rises!!!
It may be silly to say but I love going over this bridge with it's views of the water and surrounding communities. On a sunny day, with the water reflecting the light and the slight ripples...well, it's beautiful. They've now completed the cashless tolls so things can go smoothly but with construction lately it is frequently full of traffic. Sooo... Easier and safer to look out over the water 😉
