  • The sphere, though dented, survived 9/11 and was moved to Liberty Park. It's about 5 min from the 9/11 museum and worth visiting. It's a cool sculpture, but just the fact that it was recovered from th...  more »
  • This bronze sculpture, completed in 1971, is the work of German artist Fritz Koenig and was installed in the square between the towers of the World Trade Center. On the tragic September 11th the work was badly damaged and removed from the site. Without restoration, Sphere remained provisionally in Battery Park until 2017, when it was installed in Liberty Park, built in the vicinity of the new One World Trade Center. Thus, for those who visit the site and know the history of sculpture, it tends to awaken a symbolic value much greater than the mere aesthetic value.

  • The space where the Sphere is located is relatively peaceful and clean. Not far from the WTC Memorial pool, but it's not easily visible to the visitors as the location is on an elevated space.
  • Beautifully designed bronze sculpture by Fritz König. This place made me feel in a way that I do not feel very often. It was the first time I got personally affected by the tragedy. My feelings towards the whole situation and the nightmare that happened here changed a lot after our visit. Nothing in New York touched my heart like this place did. I would totally recommend visiting this place to everyone!
