  • If you happen to find yourself around here, perhaps before or after a walk on the High Line, pause to visit this neighborhood for homes dating back to 1850. The best known is certainly the # 10, where "lived" the Cosby Show (although the show was set in Brooklyn), but they also inhabited district mayors, poets and writers and was also the backdrop for the film the eyes of night with Audrey Hepburn.

  • • St. Luke's place is really a nice block in "Leroy"Street in the East Village, just below the 7 Street. This street is small and yet it is worthwhile to look at, because the one the houses are nice, on the other hand is interesting, who lived about behind those Windows. Which series here was shot. #1, once the home of artist Theodore Roszak • #4, and who know not Audrey Hepburn's film: "Wait till night falls"? The House where Audrey Hepburn's blind charkter lived which is # 4. • #6, Mayor Jimmy Walker had a lust Temple aptly in # 6 • #10, prior of the ten, the Cosby Show was filmed. • #11, Publisher / author Max Eastman, who from the outset to support the women's movement and later, Timothy Leary, who became so famous because he wanted to share with LSD. • #12 House of novelist Sherwood Anderson • #14 poet Marianne Moore • #15 painter Paul Cadmus • #16, Theodore Dreiser, who started his work on American tragedy here to write. (Information source, thanks to New York Songlines.) Only to eliminate order mistakes, some of the people are fictitious and they lived all at different times there and or worked.
