Frick Collection, New York City

4.7
Admire masterpieces set against the backdrop of industrialization at Frick Collection. Housed in a historic Fifth Avenue mansion, the museum features industrialist Henry Frick's impressive collection of European paintings, sculptures, and 18th-century decor. Stroll through the well-preserved rooms lined with hundreds of works by some of Europe's most influential artists, including Francisco Goya, François Boucher, and El Greco. You also can view one of the largest collections of "art book" paintings in the world. Take the guesswork out of planning a New York City vacation by using our trip itinerary maker.

  • We chose this partly due to time constraints and partly due to the architecture. We were not disappointed — a wonderful collection of art, bronzes, faience, enamelling, etc. Very pleased we visited.  more »
  • Impressive private collection with unique works from the European art elite-some of the works are the best ones: Van Dyck, Rembrandt, Manet, etc. Fantastic located across from Central Park.

  • From someone who was born in NYC, I am shocked that I did not know about this Art museum/collection! The place is gorgeous! I love how by just walking into the place you get taken back centuries. They also have a library on 71st. Great, quiet place to learn about the history of Art. They offer so many great exhibits year round. The staff is friendly and well-mannered. The walk to the museum is good too, since The Frick is tucked away in a very well-kept neighborhood of Manhattan (Right next to Central Park! )
  • Very classy, elegant, and poised collection! Went on Wednesday, which happens to be a "pay what you wish" day (2-6 pm). Every piece being showcased had a purpose, and is very delicate at first glance. Upon gazing for sometime, one can find themselves lost in the beauty, the style, and the details. I really enjoyed the limited Washington showcase! Loved how you could follow a timeline of the sculpture! and how it came to be! Definitely would come back again! A fine establishment to say the least!
