Monterey Bay Aquarium, Monterey

4.5
Located on the site of a former sardine cannery on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, Monterey Bay Aquarium features an 8.5 m (28 ft) viewing tank that was the first in the world to grow giant kelp. The aquarium also holds thousands of plants and animals representing more than 600 different species. You can inspect the creatures of the kelp forest from several levels in the building. Visit the largest tank in the aquarium--with one of the biggest single-paned windows in the world--for a rare chance to observe a population of ocean sunfish in captivity. Other highlights include exhibits of stingrays, bluefin tuna, jellyfish, and sea otters, viewable from above and below the waterline. • The level of professionalism and activism is amazing! Keep up the great work! Wonderful place for both adults and children to explore the natural world.  more »
  • The otters own this place - and that's not a bad thing. I blinked a little bit at the admission price and was told the otters really need the money. Then I was asked if I wanted to round up my magnet ...  more »

  • Perfect family place to visit. My 4 years old had a blast. 🌊Ocean view from there was extraordinarily. 🥘 food was great too, they have variety of options for kids as well as for adults and delicious. I loved my hot coffee. Also there is a nice play area on the second floor. We enjoyed our visit😍
  • We planned our trip as a family to take my daughter, even grandparents had a good time, took us about 2-3 hours considering my daughter was playing in most of the play areas for kids. There is lots of interactive activities for kids to visualize up close and personal the ocean life. Very educational, the whole family enjoyed the experience. We went on a pretty cold day, however the weather didn’t affect us much since we were inside. Once inside there is stroller parking and elevators. Snacks are welcome.
