Universal Studios Hollywood, Los Angeles

4.4
For an ultimate Hollywood experience, visit Universal Studios Hollywood, a film studio, theme park, and a self-contained city all its own. One of the oldest Hollywood studios still in use, this show business complex considers itself "the entertainment capital of Los Angeles." Originally created to offer tours of real film studios, sets, and sound stages, the complex now offers live shows, thrill rides, and behind-the-scenes presentations about the movie-making process. To see the highlights, take a tram tour of the sound stages and sets designed specifically for some of the studio's biggest blockbusters. You can also choose from indoor and outdoor roller-coaster rides that provide you the chance to face King Kong, a shark attack, dinosaurs, and a powerful earthquake. • Be prepared for a long day! But it's worth it... we did Universal in a 12hr day, plenty of queuing (to be expected) but there's lots to do for all ages. Rides are great fun (although there's only abou...  more »
  • Great fun! There are more 3D-based than classic rides here. They are state-of-the-art and the topics are also adapted. Long ago, there were still rides like "Back to the Future" they are now called Harry Potter, Transformers o.a. The idea is certainly similar, but always different entertaining. Unfortunately much on the day of the classics Jurrasic Park - The Ride from, a pity, because it was very hot and a bit of cooling would have done well ;-) We spent a lot of money on the Express.Pass but did not regret it. Within a few minutes, you pass the long queues and you can get in immediately. Waiting times otherwise like 60 minutes or longer. And here I am in a comparison with Disneyland. Sure, you can't compare it 100% but there are no tickets for a permanent express or FAst lane entry and you create much less than at Universal. We also enjoyed front-gate parking for €60, very handy, but if you don't live that far away you should consider a taxi.

  • We took the VIP experience tour and it was great. They took very good care of us from the beginning. The breakfast and waiting lobby in the morning was very nice, as was our lunch at Moulin Rouge. Our tour guide was great, very accommodating and friendly. She went out of her way to make sure everyone was heard and taken care of. At some points she surveyed the group for a decision on what we'd rather do, and at other points she was very flexible with us splitting off from the group and meeting them after they finished something. The studio tour was the best part. I'd done it twice already but with VIP you get to see and do a lot more. Its two hours instead of one, to give you an idea. We got to visit the sets of some shows and the prop department, which was super interesting. Overall I'd definitely recommend it if you are attending with a family and want to see as much as possible in one day. It's pricey but for that money, your tour guide will keep you comfortable and make sure you see as much of the park as possible, and then some. That was what made it worth it for me, keeping my family happy, comfortable, and excited throughout the day with no boring lines or complaints.
  • This was a fun trip indeed! The rides and attractions were worth every penny! The Mummy ride has been upgraded and well worth the wait! Going back again once school is out for my little one. We can't forget face painting and Butter Beer 🍺 after the Harry Potter rides. It just makes sense to purchase the season passes!
