Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
Boston's oldest cultural institution, Museum of Fine Arts is noted for its collection of French Impressionist paintings, including more works by Monet than any other museum or gallery outside of Paris. The museum also houses a vast collection of Egyptian, ancient Greek, and Roman art. The galleries displaying American works include paintings of famous historical figures, such as George Washington, Samuel Adams, and Paul Revere. In addition to works by the great European artists Gauguin, Renoir, Degas, and van Gogh, you can also see examples of some of the finest works produced by Americans John Singleton Copley, Winslow Homer, and John Singer Sargent. Be sure to leave a little time for exhibits of medieval sculpture and tapestries, as well as for displays of Chinese calligraphy and Japanese pottery. Museum of Fine Arts Reviews
So I love art museums. But when an art museum's admission fee is $25, I'm going to be critical. I guess what I mean is - it better be worth it. That museum better be Met good. And the Museum of Fine A... more »
... more »I visited the MFA which was the biggest attraction in Boston because there was a day when I was able to spare only for a business trip. From the legacy of ancient civilizations such as the Pharaoh and the Sphinx, there are too many things to tell from the Oriental Buddhist statues Collection, the art of the Natives of the Americas and contemporary works. Since there is no one that is not as helpful as the art critique of the amateur, if you give advice to those who have read this word of mouth, "absolutely come with sneakers" I would say. The endgame is definitely a strength match. But I will review only one because I have much trouble. It was a special exhibition of Lautrec that had been held by chance at this time. There was a fire at Notre Dame, the very artist who was active in Paris, and his work was filled with his love for the city of Paris. The famous "Divan Japonine", "Bosten's Alice TedE Bruan", was also a commentary on how the poster was printed at the time, and the content was dark. There were many other works that were set up in Paris. I can't help but admire the work of Lautrec and wish the reconstruction of Paris from the heart.
Love this place! There is always something cultural and engaging going on. It's a wonderful place to spend time surrounded by great works of art. The cafeteria offers a great selection of food options and a well maintained salad bar. The only down side of that the food can be a bit pricey. That being said, if you love art and feel strongly about supporting the institutions dedicated to preserving that art, get a membership.!
This museum is massive! Me and my husband spent an entire day wandering around this place. They have a lot of Egyptian art works as well as some very famous artworks but current artists. We we're both impressed but the cast amount of art.
