Florence is known for sightseeing, museums, historic sites, shopping, and classes. Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Rome is known for historic sites, sightseeing, museums, nightlife, and shopping. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: pause for some serene contemplation at St. Peter's Basilica, make a trip to Piazza Navona, steep yourself in history at Roman Forum, and delve into the distant past at Palatine Hill.

Getting from Florence to Rome by train takes about 2 hours. Other options: drive; or do a combination of flight and train.
