As the political and cultural capital of China, Beijing stands at the heart of Chinese history, buzzing with the energy of its high population density and centuries of importance.
Start off your visit on the 10th (Sun): appreciate the history behind Chairman Mao Memorial Hall (Maozhuxi Jiniantang) and then admire the landmark architecture of Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang). Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: take an in-depth tour of Lama Temple (Yonghegong), then don't miss a visit to Jingshan Park (Jingshan Gongyuan), then take an in-depth tour of The Palace Museum, and finally steep yourself in history at Temple of Heaven (Tiantan Park).

With a nickname like the "Pearl of the Orient," it's not surprising Shanghai offers some of the most rewarding attractions and activities in the Far East.
Start off your visit on the 13th (Wed): view the masterpieces at Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Centre, take a stroll through Taikang Road, and then get a taste of the local shopping with Former French Concession. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: make a trip to Nanjing Lu (Nanjing Road), see the interesting displays at Shanghai Museum, and then don't miss a visit to Xintiandi.

Traveling by flight from Beijing to Shanghai takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. Traveling from Beijing in December, things will get somewhat warmer in Shanghai: highs are around 11°C and lows about 3°C. On the 15th (Fri), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Qingdao.

The city of Qingdao has become particularly well known for its clean streets, orderly layout, and blending of the old and the new.
Start off your visit on the 16th (Sat): enjoy the sand and surf at Golden beach (Huang Dao), enjoy the sand and surf at No.1 Bathing Beach, and then make a trip to Badaguan Scenic Resort.

Traveling by flight from Shanghai to Qingdao takes 4 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. Expect little chillier temperatures when traveling from Shanghai in December; daily highs in Qingdao reach 6°C and lows reach -4°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
