You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Appreciate the collections at House of Terror Museum and Hungarian National Museum. Take a break from the city and head to Roman Beach and Palatinus Strandfürdő. Change things up with a short trip to Valley of the Beautiful Women in Eger (about 2 hours away). There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Halaszbastya, test the waters at a local thermal spa, explore the world behind art at Hungarian National Gallery (Magyar Nemzeti Galeria), and savor the flavors at Central Market Hall.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major airport is Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. October in Budapest sees daily highs of 61°F and lows of 43°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Fri) so you can travel back home.
