Despite its laid-back college vibe, Austin is an influential center for politics, technology, film, and music.
Family-friendly places like Texas State Capitol and Schlitterbahn Waterpark New Braunfels will thrill your kids. Step out of Austin with an excursion to National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg--about 1h 35 min away. There's much more to do: snap pictures at Congress Avenue Bridge / Austin Bats, have some family-friendly fun at The Escape Game Austin, get engrossed in the history at Bullock Texas State History Museum, and appreciate the extensive heritage of Mount Bonnell.
