Considered a cultural, artistic, and architectural jewel of Italy, Florence is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.
Kick off your visit on the 16th (Sat): see the interesting displays at Galleria dell'Accademia, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, then examine the collection at Uffizi Gallery, and finally make a trip to The Baptistery of St. John.

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Start off your visit on the 17th (Sun): take in the architecture and atmosphere at Basilica di San Pietro, get to know the fascinating history of Piazza Navona, then make a trip to Pantheon, and finally contemplate the long history of Colosseum. On your second day here, ponder the design of Trevi Fountain and then admire the masterpieces at Vatican Museums.

You can take a train from Florence to Rome in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or fly. Expect a daytime high around 81°F in September, and nighttime lows around 61°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 18th (Mon) so you can travel back home.
