Fort Lauderdale to Ketchikan is an approximately 13-hour combination of flight and ferry. You can also do a combination of car and ferry. The City and Borough of Sitka, formerly Novo-Arkhangelsk, or New Archangel under Russian rule, is a unified city-borough located on Baranof Island and the southern half of Chichagof Island in the Alexander Archipelago of the Pacific Ocean (part of the Alaska Panhandle), in the U.S. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Dolphin & Whale Watching and Fishing Charters & Tours. Visit St. Michael's Cathedral and Baranof Castle State Historical Site for their historical value. And it doesn't end there: identify plant and animal life at Alaska Raptor Center, steep yourself in history at Russian Bishop's House, take in the exciting artwork at Island Artists Gallery, and paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour.

The Municipality and Borough of Skagway is a first-class borough in Alaska on the Alaska Panhandle. Visit Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park and State Sreet and Broadway Street for their historical value. Visiting Nature & Wildlife Tours and Liarsville Gold Rush Trail Camp will get you outdoors. Step out of Skagway to go to Haines and see Chilkoot River, which is approximately 38 minutes away. For most visitors to this part of the world, the wild part of Alaska starts at Seward, a small port city that takes advantage of the region's natural beauty.
Visiting Harding Ice Field Trail and Seward Boat Harbor will get you outdoors. Explore hidden gems such as Fishing Charters & Tours and Tonsina Creek Trail. Change things up with a short trip to Russian River Falls in Cooper Landing (about 1h 15 min away). On the 19th (Wed), spend an adventurous day with a kayaking and canoeing tour.
