Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Appreciate the collections at Peggy Guggenheim Collection and Museo Ebraico di Venezia. Do some cultural sightseeing at Basilica di San Marco and St. Mark's Square. Change things up with a short trip to Scrovegni Chapel in Padua (about 52 minutes away). There's lots more to do: admire the landmark architecture of Doge's Palace, wander the streets of Dorsoduro, contemplate the waterfront views at Canal Grande, and contemplate the long history of Ponte dei Sospiri.

Start off your visit on the 15th (Tue): pause for some serene contemplation at Parrocchia SS Nabore e Felice, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Duomo di Milano, then explore the world behind art at Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, and finally appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza del Duomo. On your second day here, admire the striking features of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, then examine the collection at Castello Sforzesco, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at Chiesa dei SS. Pietro e Paolo.
