The landscape surrounding Catania, a medieval city on Sicily's eastern coast, is dominated by Mount Etna, the tallest active volcano in Europe.
Venture out of the city with trips to Villa Romana del Casale (in Piazza Armerina), Syracuse (Duomo di Siracusa, Ortigia, & more) and Taormina (Isola Bella & Villa Comunale). There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Piazza Duomo, don't miss a visit to Santuario Sant'Agata al Carcere, ponder the design of Fontana dell'Amenano, and test your problem-solving skills at popular escape rooms.

On the 23rd (Thu), appreciate the extensive heritage of Ragusa Ibla, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cathedral of St. George, then examine the collection at Museo degli Arnesi di Una Volta, and finally examine the collection at Mulino ad Acqua - Museo Cavallo d'Ispica.
