The capital of the United States, the District of Columbia contains the lion's share of the country's most treasured monuments, memorials, and public museums.
Get some cultural insight at National Air and Space Museum and National Gallery of Art. Let the collections at Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and National Portrait Gallery capture your imagination. When in Washington DC, make a side trip to see National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, approximately 1h 10 min away. There's still lots to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at National Zoological Park, get engrossed in the history at United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, explore the activities along Tidal Basin, and examine the collection at The National Archives Museum.

You'll explore and learn at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and New York Public Library. Get a sense of the local culture at Fifth Avenue and 9/11 Memorial. Go for a jaunt from New York City to Bronx to see Bronx Zoo about 36 minutes away.
