Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
On the 27th (Sun), don't miss a visit to St. Mark's Square, admire the landmark architecture of Basilica di San Marco, then examine the collection at Doges' Palace, and finally wander the streets of Cannaregio. On the 28th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: head off the coast to Isola di Burano, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, explore the activities along Canal Grande, then explore the galleries of Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and finally snap pictures at Ponte di Rialto.

The famous setting for Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, Verona is one of northern Italy's main tourist destinations, largely owing to its incredibly rich artistic heritage.
On the 29th (Tue), delve into the distant past at Grotte di Catullo, explore the historical opulence of Rocca Scaligera di Sirmione, then make a trip to Piazza delle Erbe, and finally explore the ancient world of Arena di Verona. Here are some ideas for day two: pause for some serene contemplation at Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore, then listen to music at Castelvecchio Museum, and then explore the activities along Lago di Garda.

Take a train from Venice to Verona in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In August in Verona, expect temperatures between 86°F during the day and 66°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 31st (Thu) early enough to take a train to Florence.

On the 2nd (Sat), admire the striking features of Pantheon, then delve into the distant past at Colosseum, then contemplate the long history of Palatine Hill, and finally don't miss a visit to Rome Historical Center. Here are some ideas for day two: ponder the design of Trevi Fountain, don't miss a visit to Roman Forum, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza Navona, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Church of St. Louis of the French, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at St. Peter's Basilica.
