Chiang Dao Cave, Chiang Dao

#2 of 12 in Things to do in Chiang Dao
Chiang Dao Cave makes an interesting way to view Thailand's underground treasures. The site consists of over 100 caves, but you can only enter a handful safely. On your own, you can explore two simpler caverns that remain lit up for visitors; to see three others, you'll need to rent a gas lantern. Tour guides are optional but highly recommended if you want to spot the highlights of the caves, such as crystals and limestone formations. Wear old clothes and closed-toed shoes, and expect to crawl through small openings occasionally. Note that the temperature is cooler in the caves, so dress accordingly.
