We went on our own and it was very hot, but still, a highlight for the four of us. The gardens are free although there is a small fee for the Orchid Gardens. Both are well worth the visit. The (free) ... more »

Great place for exercise, those interested in botany, activities for kids, a wonderful place for young & old. Also dog friendly paths. Huge compound so there’s activities for few days to explore. UNESCO heritage site. Worth a visit! Great for picnic too!
One of the colonial must see in Singapore. Sub divided into several theme parks and exceptional quality gardens such as the orchid garden and the ginger gardens; apart from the vast wonderful collection of tropical trees. The garden is also teaching the need of conservation of our forests and flora. Full of birds and squirrels. Surprisingly it is so close to Singapore's main shopping district Orchard. The garden is very well connected by public transport. Has public restrooms (very clean) and several restaurants and coffee shops. Very friendly and highly professional staff. Do not miss the Shop of Singapore Botanical Gardens for your exclusive gifts. The Garden is a World Heritage Center. In fact, it is a paradise ! Follow the website for detailed information. Please be prepared with good walking shoes and spend at least half a day. Best time to visit is in the mornings.

The country’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site is a showcase of spectacular tropical flora. There are also many idyllic photo spots throughout the Gardens such as Swan Lake and The Bandstand gazebo. Set in lush greenery, the 158-year-old Singapore Botanic Gardens is the country’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site and the only tropical botanic garden on the list. Its impressive, ornate main gate is a not-to-be-missed photo opportunity. It boasts four pillars and supporting swinging gates framing a cast-aluminium lattice of Bauhinia kockiana, the climber planted at the fencing just beside it. Inside, the gardens is a showcase of spectacular tropical flora, with various species of plants and flowers that makes beautiful photo backdrop.
