Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Wed): get to know the fascinating history of St. Mark's Square, snap pictures at Ponte dei Sospiri, admire the striking features of Doges' Palace, then pause for some serene contemplation at Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, then explore the activities along Canal Grande, and finally take in the views from Ponte di Rialto. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 6th (Thu): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Campo del Ghetto, then steep yourself in history at St Mark's Campanile, then admire the striking features of Basilica di San Marco, and finally admire the masterpieces at Peggy Guggenheim Collection.

Considered a cultural, artistic, and architectural jewel of Italy, Florence is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.
Florence is known for sightseeing, museums, historic sites, shopping, and parks. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, take an in-depth tour of Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence, admire the landmark architecture of The Baptistery of St. John, and see the interesting displays at Uffizi Gallery.

Traveling by train from Venice to Florence takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or fly. While traveling from Venice, expect a bit warmer days and about the same nights in Florence, ranging from highs of 89°F to lows of 65°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Sun) early enough to take a train to Rome.

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Kick off your visit on the 10th (Mon): explore the ancient world of Colosseum, admire the striking features of Pantheon, then get to know the fascinating history of Piazza Navona, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Church of St. Louis of the French, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Peter's Basilica. Keep things going the next day: admire the masterpieces at Vatican Museums, take in the spiritual surroundings of Santa Maria in Trastevere, and then delve into the distant past at Palatine Hill.

Take a train from Florence to Rome in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of flight and train. In July in Rome, expect temperatures between 89°F during the day and 70°F at night. On the 12th (Wed), you'll have the morning to explore before heading back home.
