One of Poland's oldest cities, Krakow sits at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, its historical town center nestled on the left bank of the Vistula River.
Go for a jaunt from Krakow to Oswiecim to see Memorial and Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau about 1h 20 min away. Next up on the itinerary: appreciate the extensive heritage of Historic Old Town, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. Mary's Basilica, step into the grandiose world of Wawel Royal Castle, and examine the collection at Oskar Schindler's Factory.

Home to Poland's indigenous Goral people, Zakopane sits at the foothill of the Tatra Mountains, an area serving as one of the country's most fashionable year-round vacation getaways.
Start off your visit on the 1st (Wed): explore the activities along Lake Morskie Oko, admire the masterpieces at The Wladyslaw Hasior Gallery, and then take in the awesome beauty at Gubalowka. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 2nd (Thu): explore the historical opulence of Niedzica Castle (Zamek w Niedzicy), then head outdoors with Staw Gasienicowy, and then don't miss a visit to Krupowki Street.

Plan for a bit warmer nights when traveling from Zakopane in March since evenings lows in Wroclaw dip to 32°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 4th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
