Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Museum-lovers will appreciate Vatican Museums and Borghese Gallery. Palatine Hill and St. Peter's Basilica will appeal to history buffs. There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Colosseum, appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza Navona, admire the striking features of Pantheon, and explore the world behind art at Capitoline Museums.

Considered a cultural, artistic, and architectural jewel of Italy, Florence is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Siena Cathedral and Piazza della Signoria. Discover out-of-the-way places like Piazza del Campo and Ponte Vecchio. Barcelona, the country’s second-largest city, is a cosmopolitan urban center known for its throbbing youthful energy and stellar architecture.
On the 25th (Wed), pause for some serene contemplation at Barcelona Cathedral, then examine the collection at Casa Milà, then make a trip to Casa Batlló, and finally wander the streets of El Barri Gòtic. On the next day, tour the pleasant surroundings at Park Güell, admire the landmark architecture of La Sagrada Familia, and then examine the collection at Picasso Museum.

Traveling by flight from Florence to Barcelona takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. Traveling from Florence in October, expect somewhat warmer with lows of 60°F in Barcelona. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 26th (Thu) so you can travel back home.
