You won't run out of things to do in Marrakech, a city where you can spend days exploring grandiose palaces and mosques, photogenic gardens, sacred tombs, and traditional mansions that evoke a bygone era.
Get some historical perspective at Medina of Marrakesh and Koutoubia Mosque and Minaret. Shop till you drop at Jemaa el-Fnaa and Marrakech Souk. There's still lots to do: admire the natural beauty at Jardin Majorelle, soothe aching muscles at some of the top local wellness centers, contemplate the long history of El Badi Palace, and admire the landmark architecture of Ben Youssef Madrasa.

Essaouira

The laidback town of Essaouira, known for its forceful trade winds, attracts Moroccan and foreign tourists alike with its sweeping beaches and atmospheric, labyrinthine medina, a World Heritage Site.
Get a sense of the local culture at Medina of Essaouira and Galerie l'Arbre bleu. Step out of the city life by going to Essaouira Beach and Ecotourisme et Randonnees. There's lots more to do: take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback, don't miss a visit to Essaouira Ramparts, look for gifts at Flouka de Mogador, and take a leisurely stroll along Essaouira Fishing Port.

Drive from Marrakech to Essaouira in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. When traveling from Marrakech in April, plan for slightly colder days in Essaouira, with highs around 70°F, while nights are about the same with lows around 56°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 26th (Thu) early enough to travel back home.
