Cusco Cathedral, Cusco

4.5
Standing proudly over Cusco's main square since 1654, Cusco Cathedral remains one of the city's most prominent religious and historical landmarks. The site dates back to before the 17th century, as the cathedral stands above the ruins of an Inca temple, some of whose stones were used in the current building's construction. Nowadays the cathedral houses a large collection of colonial art and welcomes countless worshippers every day. Stop by to feel the history and admire the architecture, both inside and out. • Undoubtedly the most sumptuous of all the churches of Cusco (all are beautiful). Grandiose, imposing, rich in detail, beautiful. The visits occur every 15 minutes and can be accompanied by guide, contracted the part. It is very large inside, so it is worth to go calmly and enjoy to admire every detail. If you are paying aside, it will cost 25 soles to enter (June/2019), but if you buy the tourist billet, it is included.

  • Fascinating history, architecture and art inside. We especially enjoyed the painting of the last supper with chinchilla and Peruvian fruits. The statues that are used in the Corpus Christi festival are also very interesting, as was the black Christ who protects the town from earthquakes. Essential visit for anyone interested in the history if Cusco and Peru. Leila and I came here after lunch at Greens and enjoyed the shelter from the intense sun.
  • 25 soles per person and it's a small church with not much to see. The only good thing is that you can enter for free if go very early to the Mass
