  • We joined the track from the Hermitage hotel (and later found out that there was a campground further up where we could park). Roundtrip from the Hermitage the track took us four and a half to five hours. Although the track was a bit foggy when we departed, the clouds cleared and we were greeted with breathtaking views. The track was relatively easy, with little elevation. If you enjoy sightseeing, walking, or simply a relaxing way to see the outdoors on the south island it is absolutely worth making time for.
  • This track is very easy, popular, and the main points along it are within a fairly short walk of the start. The views from the glacier lake are fantastic - if you only have half a day to spend at Mt Cook, this is the track to use.
