Learn more about the Battle of Arnhem and its history during World War II at Airborne Museum Hartenstein. At the museum, housed in the former headquarters of the British Airborne Division, you'll gain an understanding of the battle, Operation Market Garden, and why the mission ultimately failed. You'll also get a window into the effect of the battle on the residents of this quiet town. See displays of weaponry, uniforms, and equipment, as well as photographs, films, and interviews with Allied soldiers. Airborne Museum Hartenstein Reviews

The city has become something of a sacred place of memento for posterity, with a 'Liberation Route' indicated by large stones with the event's license plate. In a vast, well-maintained park, in front of the monument to airborne troops, in a historic building there is this 'Airborne museum' that arouses emotion and instills anguish in the underground, with the reconstruction of parts of the city during the fighting, supported by audiovisuals. The entrance to the underground is through a glider of those carrying soldiers. At the entrance (11 euros) there is a well-stocked shop with free WiFi, there are vending machines and there is also a restaurant to eat, but expensive. All around a beautiful sacred type park, with monuments, stems, and weapon systems like cannons and tanks ... and a gas brazier with the World Peace Flame.
Mooi en indrukwekkend museum. Voor kinderen is er een speurtocht. In de kelder een mooi experience ruimte more »Beautiful and impressive museum. For children there is a treasure hunt. In The basement a nice experience space
Great to get a feel for Operation market garden at the place where it actually happened. Resistance stories and the outlines are great and informative. The 'war experience' did not add much for our own experience, but might be great to visit with kids.
Worthwhile museum to visit to see the history of this area from the second world war. The building is deceptively small, but there's plenty to see. It's split over several floors, but there is a lift. The floors are split into sections, eg the resistance network, and there are lots of back stories included amongst the facts. There are a number of short films to help cover more information.
