This building dates from 1857 when the architect Gabriel Davioud built the "Panorama of the Champs Elysées" in the shape of a rotunde to valorize the "exploits Warriors of Napoleon III" after the fall of the Empire and only in 1893, it becomes "the Palace of the ice" as skating rink until 1970. Emptied and arranged in 1981, the building becomes the "Théâtre du Rond point" with the famous duettists "Jean Louis Barrault and Madeleine Renaud" at its head. In 1991, the Ministry of culture commissioned the architect Jean Michel Wilmotte to develop and decorate the premises, which we see today. The theatre is then endowed with a restaurant, entrance hall, bookshop, exhibition hall. The theatre is also at this time "the House of cultures of the world", a vast programme!! In 1995, Marcel Maréchal took over the direction of the theatre, which presented contemporary works. Since 2002, it is Jean Michel Ribes who is the Director, with a programming essentially of creations of living authors. The Director is appointed jointly by the Ministry of culture and the City Council of Paris, which provide grants of approximately 40%. The large room "Renaud Barrault" comprises 746 seats and presents a wide variety of shows, theatre, one man show, the small room "Jean Tardieu" has 176 seats and the one called "Roland Topor" of 86 places. I had seen it a while, the comic hired Christophe Alévêque with a delirious and very well conducted show. Rates are between 30 and 40 euros. A restaurant with bar, located in the basement, but open to the entrance hall, offers menus and dishes for lunch and dinner. (entries between 8 and 9 euros, dishes of choice varied between 12 and 24 euros and desserts between 8 and 9 euros. Access to this theatre can be done by the Metro station "Franklin D Roosevelt" lines No. 1 and 9
