Rue St-Dominique was renamed Rue St.-Dominique in 1631 after the Dominican monastery that opened on this street that year. The site has had many names over the years--chemin de la Longue Raye (1355), chemin des Treilles (1433), chemin Herbu des Moulins à Vent (1523), chemin de l'Oseraie (1527), chemin du Port (1530), chemin des Vaches (1542), chemin de la Justice, and chemin des Charbonniers.

The allure today stems from the fact that the street feels authentic--making visitors feel like natives as they wander past the bakeries, restaurants, shoe stores, kitchen shops, bistros, boutiques, and butcher shops. It's centrally located, close to many attractions, and offers stunning views of the Eiffel Tower. • Coffee shop located near the Eiffel Tower. I only had coffee, enough to score the prices of the establishment. Attention tourists because an American coffee and a latte costs 12.40 Euros. I know that Paris is an expensive city, but it surprises the price of a coffee when a few meters away there are coffees for half the price. The property is clean, well decorated and the waiters give good image.
