Pont des Invalides, Paris

Although Pont des Invalides is most commonly known as the lowest bridge traversing the Seine, it holds historical significance as well. When you visit this site, be sure to learn its story, which starts in 1821 with Claude Navier. Navier once imagined a revolutionary bridge that crossed the Seine in one single reach, without any point of support in between. Due to cracks in some parts of the bridge and gradual settling, the project was abandoned before the bridge even made it into service. • One of the many interesting bridges of Paris Veterans Bridge (Pont des Invalides) has its long history. Since 1821, it was created first in one place, after the destruction of the bridge, the construction was transferred to another place, again destroyed, then rebuilt, repaired several times, and only at the end of 1880 year acquired the present form (in 1956 Modified sidewalks). On the other side of the bridge on the central pillars there are sculptures-alleguary "Victory on Land" and "Victory at sea". Other supports are decorated with bas-reliefs of military trophies. Walk next to the bridge, crossing the bridge to the other bank of the Seine brought pleasure.
