Pasteur Museum, Paris

#9 of 10 in Childrens Museums in Paris
See the apartment and lab of a great scientist at Pasteur Museum. This is where Louis Pasteur, famous for discovering the process now called pasteurization, spent the last seven years of his life. Hardly touched since that time, the building is chock-full of over 1,000 pieces of personal memorabilia and scientific instruments. Pasteur and his wife are buried on the grounds in a flamboyant, mosaic-decorated mausoleum. You may only enter the site by guided tour, and photos are not allowed. • It is little known, even "pseudo-provincials"... and yet it's worth the trip! A jewel, a concentrate of Pastor's life, his time, his laboratory, his discoveries, his family and his friends!!! Too bad it's hard to go!

  • This museum, I wanted to visit accepts only groups and not individual access on the grounds of Vigipirate plan. I do not really understand the reason, but it's a shame not to enjoy. Visits are on appointment, taken three months in advance! with 14 euros in participation, minimum 10 people and with a speaker. I'll take my chances with this system but without much hope.
