Parc de Bagatelle, Paris

#16 of 144 in Parks in Paris
Situated at the heart of the Bois de Boulogne, Parc de Bagatelle is one of Paris’s four botanical gardens. Created in 1775, the park and its chateau were built in 64 days after a wager between Queen Marie-Antoinette and her brother in-law, the Count of Artois. This site is the perfect place for you to stroll and relax amongst the stressful days of sightseeing. As well as large trees and varied plant life, little bridges, rocks, caves, bodies of water, and artificial waterfalls add to the charm and romantic aspect of the park.

In addition, the 19th century Chinese pagoda is just one of the park’s many curiosities to explore, and you can also admire the magnificent rose garden with 10,000 rose bushes from 1,200 different species. The park regularly hosts exhibitions and events as well as classical music concerts in the summer. • This garden is beautiful, especially in May June when the rose gardens are in bloom. A few steps from Paris

  • This park is very beautiful. It's not as crowded as some of the parks and the woods provide nice shade on a warm day. The peacocks that wonder around the property provide a lot of entertainment as well. Make sure to check out the Rose garden if you go.
  • The botanical park in Bagatelle is extraordinarily beautiful. It is very well maintained and although you do spot some lovely birds too, the flora of the park is breathtaking. There's also some small ruined-cave-like structures that make for extremely calm and lovely places - good for both photos and short escapes from the hectic reality. It's also a great place for a picnic amidst nature; we had a few nibbles while some peacocks were walking past us. I'd love to visit this parc again with some more time at hand.
