Musee Du Parfum, Paris

3.7
#71 of 185 in Museums in Paris
For a change from the usual art museums, try visiting Musee Du Parfum, a fascinating and luxurious museum of perfume. The museum was created in 1983 by the Fragonard perfume company within a Napoleon III town-house. As you tour the site, check out the period furnishings and perfume exhibits, including antique perfume bottles, containers, toiletry sets, stills for steam distillation of perfume extracts, and more. Displays show you how perfumes are made today as well as the history of perfume manufacturing and packaging.

Of particular interest is an orgue à parfum, or a perfume organ, with tiers of ingredient bottles arranged around a balance used to mix fragrances. You won’t leave Musee Du Parfum without discovering the secrets behind their most famous scents! Find out how to plan Paris trip without stress by asking Inspirock to help create an itinerary.

  • We went to the factory/showroom at Grasse two days ago. Just stumbled upon the Paris shop whilst strolling , so I bought some hand cream for a friend. Same prices as the factory!! Thought it would be ...  more »
  • This is not really a museum, but rather a lovely little perfume shop. The shop itself is quite elegant and as for the perfumes - well, let's say they are an acquired taste.  more »

  • Had a wonderful time learning about fragrance and essence and imports and all the very interesting things that go into perfume. The guided tour was free and they had an English option which was great for us visiting from the US. The fragrances were exquisite and the staff was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend coming here if you're by the Opera.
  • Friendly free tours offered at this small museum including one in English. They do try to sell you perfume at the end by letting you try different scents on and offering a discount if you bundle the bottles and buy more. The museum bathrooms are clean. You can shop in their perfume store at the end of the short tour where the also sell soaps and candles. The museum is located near the Opera metro stop.
