Sa position dominante lui vaut... more »The said mill Radet is located rue Lepic to the level of the No. 83 on the corner of rue Girardon. It dates back to 1717. One called Blüte end, is located above and dated 1622. Its dominant position is to be useful, to produce flour and achieve some grindings and press the harvest. In 1809 the Debray family gives him a status of public utility. In 1834 Charles Debray added a guinguette very fashionable at the time, which he calls "The mill of Galette". It produces a cake with rye, that we wind with a glass of milk. Soon the milk is replaced by sour wine produced on the mound. It is that when the rue Lepic is creates that customers come in droves on weekends where there's also a dance. This mill and his ball will do, by 1860, the joys of artists including painters like Renoir, Vincent Van Gogh, Toulouse Lautrec, Corot, etc and later Utrillo and Picasso! Paris also come for SLUMMING! In 1966 the concert hall is closed and serves as a studio for Television, then will be closed at the end of the ORTF in 1974. The mill and the surrounding area are enrolled in Historical Monuments since 1958. The mill was restored in October 2001. If you pass Lepic Street, you can't miss it, with its large wings and its mill Dutch form. Hidden away a bit we saw it in autumn so there wasn't much leaf coverage. We didn't appear to be able to get too close but you can a view around the back from the road too. Lovely old mill, there's a smaller one up the road too.
Have to find this little gem, such an icon. Stunning
