Victor Hugo (1802-85), novelist, poet, playwright, and French national icon, is best known for two of today’s most popular world classics: Les Misérables and The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, as well as other works, including The Toilers of the Sea and The Man Who Laughs. Hugo was elected to the Académie Française in 1841. As a statesman, he was named a Peer of France in 1845. He served in France’s National Assemblies in the Second Republic formed after the 1848 revolution, and in 1851 went into self-imposed exile upon the ascendance of Napoleon III, who restored France’s government to authoritarian rule. Hugo returned to France in 1870 after the proclamation of the Third Republic.

  • Constantly walking in a fleeting, daughter only asked how they fight the naked.. Always overgrown with some.. In weeds, dry branches. Does not attract the eye even.. But if it were kept in a presentable villa, the sculpture would look good. Like the entire 26th arrondissement

  • A draw is created in 1909 and installed in 1964 at the intersection of avenue Victor Hugo and Henri Martin. This bronze sculpture is the work of Auguste Rodin and the founder Alexis Rudiers. It represents Victor Hugo in exile, sitting on the edge of the rocks of Guernsey, the arm as to calm the waves and his muses accompanying his thoughts. Partially covered by branches of shrubs, be really careful to distinguish... You can come by metro line 9 "Street pump" station or RER C station Henri Martin Avenue. Bus line 63 stop "Victor Hugo - Henri Martin".
